Module and System Design
Heraeus infrared modules compriseone or more infra red emitters mounted in a suitable housing and usually wired into a terminal box mounted on the back of the unit. System solutions comprise modules and a control panel designed to meet the requirements of the individual process.
Modules – designed for the process.
The great strength of Heraeus lies in the tailor-made solutions it offers customers. Experienced personnel in Germany, Belgium, Great Britain, USA and Australia construct modules to meet customer requirements. The latest technology, such as three-dimensional CAD techniques,is available. Modules can be built from all infrared emitters to dimensions that suit customer’s plant with outputs necessary for the specific process. The selection of the optimum emitter for the material to be heated is made with reference to the process data. Heraeus modules are tailored solutions offered with or without ventilation and designed to meet all issues such as emitter type, thermal and mechanical stability, air movement and operating environment. They are designed to be fitted into an existing plant or for installation into new lines.
Systems – for the complete heating process
On Request infrared modules can be provided as part of a complete solution. This can provide simple on off control of emitters through to full closed loop control where substrate temperature is measured and emitters regulated to maintain the required heating profile. The control panel provided will be a wall mounted or floor standing enclosure equipped with all the necessary electronic and electrical equipment.

Infrared Heat for Food
Infrared emitters from Heraeus are modern heat sources. Without any pre-heating and with very efficient energy input, heat is applied precisely where it is required. Infrared emitters from Heraeus have very fast response times and so can be very closely controlled. Heraeus infrared systems are so compact that the complete manufacturing plant design can be improved and valuable production space reclaimed.
Infrared heat finds particular application in modern meat preparation. Medium wave carbon infrared emitters heat meat surfaces in a targeted fashion. Sandwich meat, hamburgers and hams are made to look even more appetising without additional fat.

Heating Techniques for Plastics Processing

Heat plays a central role in the forming and processing of plastics, and especially thermoplastics. For softening, forming – bending, stretching, blowing, deep drawing and stamping, for packaging – sterilising, shrink wrapping, heat sealing, laminating, for tempering, hardening, gluing, drying up to the separation of plastic waste. Infrared radiation offers many possibilities for heat transfer in the manufacturing process.
